Concept
The desire to produce a layout that gets away from the matt black front profile edge that is seen so many times at exhibitions. To find an alternative to the hanging curtain fixed to the lower edge of baseboards. Perhaps the inclusion of mood lighting to add variety to the presentation of the layout.
Site survey
On a chilly January day three of us set about doing a site survey of Stony Shaw station on the Bredgar & Wormshil Light Railway.
Baseboards
From the outset our aim was to create baseboards that are light in weight, quick to assemble at exhibitions and do not require bolts to join.
Track
The track work needs to follow the prototype as closely as possible, no visible wire connections, high detail level and provide reliable running.
Scenery
Scenery is yet to be started.
Darent
This is a scratch build, other than the motors, gearboxes and bearings we will make all the parts ourselves.
Couplings
One of the common items of the stock is the couplers used on the locos at Bredgar, these we want to replicate as closely as possible.
RotaYard
Conventional fiddle yards are not going to work with this layout, thinking outside the box we came up with the RotaYard.
